Marble is one of the more porous types of stone and is formed from limestone subjected to high pressure and temperature, changing the composition and structure of the original stone. Because it is so porous, it is also more prone to absorbing liquids and grease, so it is important to take extra care of your marble worktop to keep it looking good over time. Wipe up stains as quickly as possible so that the stains do not set. You can do this with a damp cloth and possibly a mild detergent. Feel free to use coasters as much as possible.
